Kylla-Anne Kai Ong (王安凱)

Our daughter of two moons in
Fighter, she has always been
Came into this world too young
Left when all had been done

Kylla was her given name
Victory was supposed to be her game
Lost without ever knowing why
Scalpel sought why she had to die

Mother's love has no comparison
Moving forward with hesitations
Father's urge has no replacement
Emptied, yet with no displacement

Yet not a moment more should be spared
Grief has its moment, no more to be aired
Lylla and Rylla are still here, yet to be kissed
Fight on as parents, we will as promised

@⁨Ning-Jia Ong 王寧嘉⁩ with deepest condolences.... of grief and loss
no child should leave this early
not with parents bereft in tragedy

with dashed expectations
for a life full of permutations
of potentials and possibilities

of love
that cannot now be

no child should leave this early
a life now only a mother's memory
of a casket not a crib

of a father crestfallen
as his child struggles to breathe
and now in his hands bear a wreath

no child should leave this early
for a parent to see a life so brief
and now their lot but to gravely grieve

for a life
that cannot now be

no child should leave
this early
even if they all do eventually

and yet

we must not look at each of our lives
as entireties of existence
we are but continuations of each other

each birth and each death
mere punctuation marks within a sentence
within the story of all of us
